Michael and Amanda met in January 2009 through some mutual friends while Michael was home in Nebraska on leave. They hit it off instantly, but since Michael lived in California at the time they went their separate ways and continued to randomly run into eachother for the next 9 months when Michael would return to Lincoln for various things. Coincidence? I think not!
Finally in September 2009, after running into eachother once every 3 months or so since January, they accidently bumped into eachother one final time after a Husker football game. After an evening of drinks and dancing, they headed to a little coffee shop to chat. They decided that there was much more between them to just bump into eachother now and then.... but they'd start as friends and support eachother through some difficult transitions coming up. Amanda watched the next day as Michael took off for California in his F-18 jet. Amanda promptly went home to watch Top Gun (no really, she did).
A few phone calls a week turned into daily conversation, which turned into talking every night before bed. A few weeks later, Michael and Amanda had the "exclusive" talk and Michael made plans to come home again to visit for 3 weeks. In October, six weeks after their coffee chat, Michael returned home for a much anticipated visit!
In November, Michael surprised Amanda with a quick weekend trip back to Nebraska. Little did she know, it was to ask Amanda's parents for their blessing. In December Amanda flew out to California to spend 2 weeks with Michael. He proposed the day she arrived!
After an entirely long-distance relationship, Amanda and Michael were married on July 10, 2010 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They currently live in Kingsville, TX where Michael is stationed as an instructor pilot in the US Navy.
Amanda and Michael enjoy Husker football, cooking, running and biking, traveling, fishing, camping, their dogs Cheese and Callie, and just being goofballs together!
They are sooooo excited about their new adventure as parents-to-be. Baby "Pomo" will be joining them in March 2012.
